A friend called me up today and asked if this is something I might be interested in. It's dimensions are 42 inches wide, 78 inches high, and 73 1/2 inches long. I believe it needs some minor repairs maybe a couple new plexiglass pieces etc. Although I measured and measured it's going to be too big for my apartment.

If I fix it up what would be it's value? They told me I could have it for $350. Thinking I might be able to fix it up and turn a profit. More money to buy finches; hooray

Thoughts?

This looks like an aviary that is meant to sit in the middle of a room, with the glass all around and the center piece. I would assume the center piece is meant for hanging artificial plants and nests. These are usually pretty pricey, but the market for them would be more limited, since it would take a fairly large room to have it where you could walk around all sides. I would think it could make a wonderful divider between two large spaces. This is similar to the aviary I used to see in the lobby of a local hospital. They had seating on either side, so patients and/or families of patients could sit there and pass the time watching the finches. I used to love to stop there for a while, my doctor's office was in that hospital.

That's a tough call.
This thing is huge, and like Sally said, it would need a huge room to accommodate it.
I would hesitate to spend the money on this piece and on the materials, and put in the work, only to find out later, that you can't find a buyer for it

.
It is a lovely piece though and oh so tempting, sigh.......
