before putting in more nests paint the wire black using a water based acrylic it really makes viewing your birds easier. it only needs to be applied to the outside of the wire and can be applied easily with a roller.

I see no problems with placing nests in the open section of your aviary the birds will choose which ever they prefer. remember to place some down lower as well

Gosh...what a wonderful Aviary you have there Finchie! :D

I wish I could have something like that but it probably wouldn't do well in my area.

I like the idea of the black paint to see the birds better.....MickP....you have some really great ideas! 8)

Don't encourage him he didn't think of it first....

Nestboxes in or out ...no matter depending on your weather...but try to put them where you can get at them easily to check contents.Put a wider lid on those outside to protect against the rain.

Black paint made the world of difference to my aviaries and breeding cages too. Can't take credit for the idea though.

Post us an "after" pic as well, and you'll notice the difference.

As for the nesting spots, keeping the inside dry and out of the rain is the most important, I built an extended cover for mine like poohbear also suggested and it works great.
