Hi guys,
I am trying to find a full spectrum light to use in my bird room (220-240v). As winter is approaching here, i wont be able to move them outside to get some sun.
Any advice or links, i need a high wattage one.
The ones i found in lebanon are 20watts and 40$. Will need like 4 for my room

I'm still alive Adam, thanks, although it's been an incredibly difficult year.
The bird family has grown, with some new additions (Owl Finches, Etc.) There have been some sad and unexpected losses recently, but then, there are also babies in the nest.
How have you been? How are the Canaries doing?
Best wishes

andiok thanks alot. We dont have walmart here, but i will order them to be shipped to lebanon.
I have checked amazon and aome other sites. 20 wats seems to be the highest wattage for birds. Was hoping to find a higher wattage ones so i would install just one in the middle of the room.

you have lots of choices my friend.
if you want a higher bulb go with these. 45Watt with 2650 LM
I think these are great
And just so you know the idea of a full spectrum light is the color temperature measured in calvin and is something between 5000k to 6500k. Higher color temperatures are called daylight colors which appear blue-white and compared to warm white with ranges up to 3000k. so just the color is whiter and to me is way better then just the yellow one BUT how do we know if birds like it better
anyways WHAT U NEED is check how many LUMENS there is in a bulb or fluorescent tube NOT Watt. An old type incandescent bulb will be 60Watt and will have 800Lumens. A new fluorescent bulb will be 13Watt but will be 900Lumens and LUMENS measures the Brightness of the light.
hope i helped somehow

Full spectrum is good for all birds so they see visually as they should. Birds see things we don't in feather structure which helps find mates etc. As for the vitamin D you should supplement with eggs or vitamins and not count on bulbs.
I had a large bird room in my basement years ago and ran a bank of 3 fixtures down the middle of the room.

I agree with Debbie, it is too difficult to try to supply D3 through light bulbs. Most of them will say they need to be within x number of inches of the bird, need to be replaced often, yada yada yada. I use bulbs that are as close as I can get to the ideal, but I don't depend on them to supply vitamin D3. As Debbie said, the right spectrum allows them to see differently than we do, and can have an impact on mate selection. For D3, diet and/or vitamin supplementation is the way to go.

any explanation on why exactly between 5000k and 5700k?
any new studies done recently?
i've always kept my birds outdoor so never used indoor space but now that i moved im keeping them indoors due to wild winters.
the sun (natural daylight) has a color temperature of 6500k,
so i think the closes you mimic the outdoor light the better but...again you might know something i dont
