Bird housing for Finches

Post by Spreckles » Wed Nov 04, 2015 5:36 pm

I am a newbie to the forum. I have had finches for about a year. I stared with the one large flight cage, was fortunate to inherit a free cage and have added all kinds of paraphernalia to their birdie condo! I only have 2 birds and they prefer the top cage. On the outside is a wooden perch another swing and a bowl of water that I change daily for bathing. The cage doors stay open most of the time. Except for an occasional flight lap they are happy to just fly from cage to cage or up on top. They have fun with their hay "balls" and love the mirrors. I have 2 little ones coming soon. How many birds could I comfortably house with this set-up?

Spreckles

Welcome to the Forum.

From the pictures, I can't tell what sort of finches you have. The silhouette, makes me think Societies (?)

Do your birds have free flight in the room, in the house? If they do, than the size of the cages is not that important.

What are the dimensions of these two cages by the way?

Because they are in a dormer window I can't get good pics the lighting is wrong. Yes they can fly in the room. It isn't as messy as it sounds. I think they just like to have the door open. The bird in flight is a society and the other is a Cordon Blue he is my sweetie boy. I have not measured them they fill the wall space. I can and get back to you. They started in the big flight cage and moved to the top one of their own choosing. It's a big set up.

As long as they always have the cage doors open the only size that matters is the size of the room :) Though the cages look large enough for 2 birds
best of luck
