Bird Privacy...LOL

Post by MarlonLionheart » Sat Nov 14, 2015 9:39 am

So what do you do when you have a clutch of eggs and you want a little alone time with your significant other without the prying eyes of your owner......install a door of course

I came home to this on Friday, the pair inside the nestbox and the makeshift door tightly sealed...don't know how long they were in there, but they came out about 1/2 hour after I got home, something new everyday !!!

I had the same thought as Babs, you need to get them a little 'Do not Disturb' sign, lol.

Often waxbills will use a feather as a door, placing the feather in the opening and then moving it to go in and out, replacing it as they go. But I think that is instinctive with waxbills. This is quite ingenious of this pair!

Amazing how resourceful birds can be! I'm glad you took a picture and shared it! :)

I had fun the other day watching one of my societies attempting to pull an entire piece of millet into his nest - persistent little guy he was! The millet was easily 5x his size! In the end he gave up and went on to something a little smaller.
