If you have different coloured cages - some black cages, some white cages, some steel or other coloured cages... which do you think your finches show up best in?

Okay smarties here's a challenge for you... prove it! Post pics of your cage from a couple of feet away with the finches inside. Can 't wait to see them! 8)

'Oh ye of little faith' :) All my cages are steel/white but unlike someone with a cage in the house who enjoys looking at their birds I've not bothered repainting. There are too many...and they do the job I want.
But I have painted the wire on my flights and it makes a big difference without the reflection.

Excellent shots Poohbear! I have 9 black breeding cages and just received 1 white breeding cage today - haven't even set it up yet. So it will be interesting to see the difference.

Anyone else?

my aviary used to be plain old galvanised wire until I saw the difference that painting the wire black could make (thanks Paul). now all of my wire gets a coat of black of paint, havent painted the wire on the breeding cages yet but no rush as I dont plan on using them this year. am going to see how the breeding goes in the aviary alone.

I think there are a couple of pics of my aviary somewhere that show the difference the paint does make.

All I know is a white cage is not very good for viewing the birds through! :? Something I never considered when purchasing the cage....I was more concerned about it matching my decor....dumb mistake! ](*,) #-o

I think any darker color is so much nicer for seeing the birds. And my next cage will not be white!

Seems that white is the in color for cages these days. Its very hard to find a black one. Most of mine are white because my priority is as big as I can get it for the least amount of money. I can always paint them later but knowing me...I probably won't. lol

I prefer a black cage. The colors of the finches stand out a lot more and it just looks a lot better. I have a few black cages and my flight cage is galvanized wire.

Brass colored?

While at the pet store yesterday I saw a brass colored cage. I was wondering if anyone has used one of these?

I imagine that it would cut down on the reflecting problem that the blinding white cages have... But is it better than the plain black?

Thanks,

I would say the black cage would be better only because i dont like bronze colored cages anyways, And its easier to clean when you can see there crap on the cage easier.
