Siberian and European goldfinches
What's the difference between the 2 goldfinches, can they be housed together?

Zebra, I hope you get an answer. I've wondered that myself.

European goldfinch is carduelis carduelis and the Siberian goldfinch is a sub species, Carduelis carduelis major.

Re: Siberian and European goldfinches
The main difference is size. The Siberian is larger than the European.
The song is also slightly different and there is more white in the plumage of the Siberian vs the European.

Thank you all for the replies, so I guess I am not suppose to keep them together in the same flight cage, I ordered Prevue F050 and I also have 2 40"wide x20" deep x20" high cages.

Re: Siberian and European goldfinches
Any one here familiar with Siberian goldfinch mating behavior? one of the two birds I have make a call sound and wave the head and body right and left while standing on the perch, who does that males or females?

Both do that.
It's a sign they are willing to bond.
I've had a few males that would actually do it in my presence, like directed at me
