What kinds of finches and how to find
I bought 2 cages (see below)
One will house my
Female zebra finch - Squeaky
Male Society - Whitey
(Squeaky mate died last year)
Seems like a good idea to leave them by themselves without nests due to Squeaky's aggressive personality and tendency for plucking.
I have 3 female society
Which I will be giving the bigger cage to.
I wish to get 1 more female society
To even out , esp since Carmel the fawn and white female gets left out a lot by the 2 black and white who may be sisters.
I thought about adding a female canary or maybe a male , but they are horribbly mess birds and they aren't really social birds.
I am totally unfamiliar with any other type of finch.
I looked a little at YouTube and seen some
Owl finches
African silverbills
Given my unexpected experience with Squeaky being very aggressive and disruptive to the society finches once spring started,
What types of finches are more peaceful like the society and would do well and all hang out together (unlike zebras who seem so possessive of their space and perches)?
Big cage is 64-21-35
It is a double sided but the divider will be only for cleaning purpose, not to be 2 separate cages.
Easy to care for birds.
Also where to find any besides zebras and society which are the only ones sold in my area (Central California)
Good reliable breeders or hobbyists?

Societies, will usually get along with practicallyrics every species.
A male or female Canary, will be fine with your Socies. A male, will sing, a female will chirp. (Canaries, are no messier than any other birds ).
Gouldians, are very laid back and peaceful, and will get along fine with your Societies.
Many of the tiny Waxbills, are peaceful and sweet natured.
I would recommend looking up some Bird Clubs in your area. That's a perfect place to get in touch with bird people in your vecinity .

Re: What kinds of finches and how to find
Thank you for the suggestions on birds and
For looking into bird clubs, hadn't thought of that.
I had a female canary once and she had to toss all her food out of her dish before eating. I tried different dishes, I even tried just the favorite seed. Still she tossed it all out.
I thought it was only males that preferred to be alone and it was a big cage so I decide to get her a female canary for company.
That female did the exact same thing with her food.
They didn't get along and I got her another cage.
So I had 2 birds that tossed all their food out of their dishes.
I decided no more canaries for me.
Zebras and society are messy for sure but they don't make a mess and waste food like the canaries did.
Canaries are beautiful, but I can't take their refusing to eat from a food dish and wanting it all at the bottom of their cage first before they will eat.

Re: What kinds of finches and how to find
I tried the feeder pictured below on the floor of the cage but they still emptied them, even when they had only their favorite seed in them.
I just couldn't find a way to have them leave their food in their dish.
In a large cage with other birds I don't want them scattering the seed for everyone all over the bottom of the cage.
Otherwise they would be a beautiful bird to have for my big cage.

some birds really know how to toss out their seed from their food dishes no matter how hard we try.
Tam thank you, can't wait to see my birds in them
