Does anybody have the Prevue F050?

Post by Susan39 » Sat May 21, 2016 9:38 pm

I just cancelled my order on the Prevue F040, because I saw the Prevue F050. I am not sure what to do so I cancelled my order. The F050 would be larger in my room, but there would be more living space for the birds.

With the F040, I could buy another one in the future and put them side by side against the wall. I would have enough space for both cages. If I got the F050 I could not buy another one. There would be no room to put the same cage side by side.

Also, what do you think about having the shelf sit so low to the ground?

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thank you!

:D

I have the F040, not the F050 and I can say I love it. My guys were switched from some smaller, cheap craigslist cage finds to the F040 and I believe they thought they'd died and gone to heaven. I've never seen the F050 by comparison, but if it prevents you from getting a second cage in the future, I'd stick with the F040. In my (somewhat limited) experience, it's hard to stop yourself once you get into finches! You'll want another species at some point and will downright need that second cage.

In regards to the shelf being so low, it works just fine for me. I keep my finches' food bowls, millet, and greens towards the bottom of their cage with their perches, greenery, and bath taking up the middle and top. This allows me to access their food dishes from the bottom door, which disturbs the shy birdies a lot less than I ever did with the smaller cages. As a result, the low shelf puts everything right where I need it. (The only thing I can say is that I've taken to just sitting on the floor as I go about refreshing their food, etc, because bending over to reach in that door was killer.)

While you're at it, look at Prevue's mesh seed catchers! I keep one of those around the base of the cage, with the food below the top of it and it has been downright wonderful. Just ordered a second, in fact, so that I can put a fresh one on the cage when I have to remove the other for cleaning. (Nothing in or around a bird cage is safe from poop!)

You talked me into it! I went back and reordered the Prevue F040 and I was still eligible for the $15 coupon! I decided that it would be better for me to purchase this cage now just in case I need to buy another one and put it next to it. Even though the Prevue FO50 is bigger, if I bought two, they would not fit in my room. Also, if the Prevue F040 is too low, I found a coffee table from Ikea 35x21x18 that would be a perfect size for this table. Plus, it was only $25! :D

I am so excited to get my new Prevue F040. I have already bought cage accessories for my finches. Once I get my cage all set up then I can get my finches.

I believe I am going to start with 2 Gouldians and 2 Silverbills.

What do you think? :D

Hooray for coupons! Every dollar you save helps you spoil the birdies a bit more, right?

Buying the accessories and getting ready for new birdies is so much fun! I've rarely had as much fun doing anything else as I have setting up new cages.

Being that I'm just getting my toes wet in the finch world, I've actually only had societies and zebras thus far. I have been eyeing those lovely Gouldian colors, though, thinking that those are my future birds. We'll see how long I can hold out before I'll be buying another cage! Definitely share pictures with us when you get your new babies. I wanna see 'em, for sure.

This will be the very first time that I own finches. Not sure which ones yet. I am having a lot of trouble finding Gouldian Finches in IL.

First, I want to set up my cage and have all the accessories that I need. I have already spent $100 on cage accessories and food.

I will be posting pictures as soon as I get the birds. :D
