My NEW Aviary

Here are some pictures of my new flight/aviary. It took me 5 days to build and it currently houses 10 finches. 2 Societies, 2 Gouldians, 2 Green Back Twinspots, 2 Star Finches, and 2 Goldbreasts. They are loving it!!!! The stickers on the front are to teach the birds that there's plexi-glass. I'll slowly start peeling them off over time once they're fully aware that they can't fly into the glass.

I'll post better pictures once I figure out how to prevent the flash shine, (probably during the natural day light)

Here's a cool picture of a reflection of what the birds see...the lake! Lucky birds eh

You built that aviary in only 5 days?? That would have taken me forever. Beautiful aviary, and what a nice collection of finches to start off with. It looks like you are high up--are you in a condo? Great view!!

Great job! Will be nice when you're able to remove all the stickers. No offense to surfboards, mind you.

Yup all that in 5 days :). Not even full days just here and there. I never knew I was as handy as I am lol. I live on the 21st floor along lake Michigan so I have an amazing view and so do the birds.

Atarasi trust me, I can't wait until I remove those stickers either. I'll take more pictures soon so you can see the birds and the inside more clearly.

Nice flight...but how do you change the floor without the birds getting out?

The middle panel is actually two doors. One opens on the top, the other on the bottom and I can open both of them to have complete access to the enclosure. So far i've been opening only the bottom one and the birds aren't disturbed at all. When i'm at the bottom they stay high up in the branches :D

I was looking for that in your pics but couldn't see the join
Luckily most birds stay high up so it makes life easier.

My plan to make it look seamless must have worked :). I think i'm going to buy a bush or mini tree to put on the bottom, maybe someone would like the privacy to perhaps make some babies

Thanks, weren't you thinking about building some sort of enclosure? How's that going?

What a wonderful aviary....you really did a fantastic job! It seems to fit nicely in that corner of your dining room. :D

Thanks, i'm glad that the stain I choose matched the floor and furniture so well. IT really adds a lot to the dining room. I'm hoping to have better/more detailed pictures very soon.
