I just bought this cage and put the cage together yesterday. I love the cage. There are 8 openings on this cage which creates access to any part of the cage. The cage is well made. I think it is a perfect size for my room and for the birds. I bought 2 Society Finches yesterday. They are adorable!

If someone can tell me how to upload a picture to this post i can show you my cage and finches.

Nice cage, Susan. Thanks for the picture. I'll be getting mine Thursday. For what it's worth, what I've done before is cut and groove the perches so I can install them front to back, just like you have the ropes. This, IMO, gives the birdies more flying distance.
Good luck with your Societies.
Luis

*Edit*
I also had a 30" roller blind (attached to and) behind the cage to protect the wall from bird 'presents'. I even painted a lush beach/forest landscape on it - looked pretty good.. ;-)

Good idea, would love to see photos.

I also agree that perches set up on the two sides makes for more flying room. I have no idea why the manufacturers insist on putting perches running the wrong way--shows they don't do any research before they design a cage!

New cage looks great! My birdies seem to love their F040 and I'm sure your societies will be very happy!

Great idea! I was thinking of getting 2 perches (branches) and putting them front to back so they have more room to fly.

Setting up my F040. Had bought a vacation feeder and a bath, but neither fit the cage, because the doors are spring-loaded and open sideways, leaving a lot of open space.

The perches are HUGE!!! like, for a parrot instead of finches.:-)
@Susan, do you find they're too big for your birds? I'm buying smaller ones...

Also bought a Lixit 32-oz water bottle, but that didn't work either, as it has a really hard-to-press plunger, instead of the ball-bearing tube.

Not a good start. On a bright note, I'm going Saturday to see some finches at MD Exotic Birds.

Hi Lori,
Thanks for the offer, but I'm not confident w shipping (yet). I'm also looking for something different, like gold-breasts or cordon blues, shaft tails or st helenas.
Regards,
Luis

jimenezl Often the perches provided with cages, especially the larger cages, are simply too big for tiny finches. A good substitute is branches from trees/shrubs in your yard, as long as they have not been sprayed with chemicals. They are great for finch feet, because they are varying thickness.

Thanks, Sally. I bought two 'natural' perches, and brought in two more from my yard.
