Weekend Waterers

Post by Hilary » Wed Nov 15, 2006 8:53 am

I have to ask how folks here have gotten their birds to make the switch from open water bowls to siphon waterers. I travel a lot on weekends, and right now it's hard to put out enough little water dishes and absolutely impossible to keep them clean by the end of the weekend. Not to mention it would be wonderful to not have to wash and replace about 50 little cups every day.... I've tried putting the founts next to/on top of water dishes, but very few of my birds seem inclined to try them - they just go around them to the dishes. I'm afraid to just make them go cold turkey - some can be pretty stubborn. Ideas?

Thanks Robin!

I actually already have a bunch of waterers - instead of a tube with a ball the water is available in a little finger of plastic. I just need the little buggers to use them! Good luck with yours as well.

I use the tube waterers with the finger I guess you call it for my finches, they took to them right away once I removed the old water dishes. Given the option though they woul rather drink from the dish, but they will use them.

I use the "hampster" bottle for my cockatiel.
Thank you,
Tina
