Re: Female roosting alone
Some roost by themselves others in a group, would not worry too much. Finches do not need nests if not breeding to sleep in. I use stress perches in some of my flights and aviary. The birds go to their spots to roost/ sleep http://glamgouldians.com/product-stress-plastic.php

At times a Finch that has bonded closely with another bird, finds it difficult to form a bond with a new bird.
Is your other female the one which this one was bonded with?
If that's the case you will have to house them away from each other, where sthey can't hear or see one another, until she bonds with this new fella.
It might take some time, but eventually she will come around.
Good luck.

rsrj317 my hen always makes hubby sleep on top of the swinging perch, while she takes her perch. Maybe it is something like that.

Re: Female roosting alone
Thank you all for these words. I am not to concerned with whethier or not a bond is formed with single male. I was assuming this was the nature of things. If no comotion is happening i think i will leave things to nature or not.
