Hey guys it's me Nick again. This posting could also qualify for the breeding section. I semi-recently removed the Chestnut flanked white girls from the parent cage and put them in the bigger cage above them. I purposely left the nest in the parents cage in case they want another clutch (it's up to the birds, not me). In the bigger cage I have the girls, Oreo my male society, and Kiwi my newest male zebra (Pearl was being mean to the girls so he got to switch places with Oreo). My main question is: are Kiwi and one of the girls going to breed with Oreo and the other girl in there? Also what's the chance of Oreo and one of the girls mating and what is the likely hood of it being a successful clutch? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I’m saying t won’t work because zebras are little demand when breeding when there is others around especially society’s who they see as weaker but give it ago it might work out

Ok. Thanks. I haven't been home lately so there might be eggs and I just don't know it. I provided 2 different nests to be safe in case they both decided to go at it.




Anyone else have any info to provide?

FinchLover&Breeder okay I hope it goes well anyway I did when I very first started have a pair of zebs and a pair of societys in the same cage however my society Male was aggressive back if they tried to fight so they ended up not fighting but not socialising just morning there own buissness urs may go the same way

Well the bad news is no eggs from Kiwi, Oreo, Thing 1, and Thing 2. Kiwi has been trying but to no avail to woo Thing 1 while Thing 2 and Oreo share the other nest. I went to the pet store yesterday and saw the most adorable White and Carmel brown society but I didn't have enough cash on me to get her. I did however buy a canary nest and put it in the cage with Pearl and he seems leery of it but should warm up to it. And good news is Jack Sparrow and Moma bird have decided to start another clutch. There was one egg yesterday and still one egg today, however I saw them doing their thing so I expect more eggs soon. Also I have a new setup of the cages. I took them off the shelf and chair, took apart the shelving, and move the chair. Then I brought a big folding table in and put everyone on that right next to each other so they can see and chat but not fight. I'm going to try to get a pic or two of the setup if you guys want some. Been a busy boy since coming home yesterday...

Well I think they shid get along fine and I use canary nest in my breeding cages and they used them after about two days sometook linger about a week but now they are all using them my heck’s in fact love them more than normal nests

And yes add a pic and can u post a pic of Oreo and the other one again plz I forgot what they look like

And that society does sound nice it sounds like mine named caramel the one in the pic here : https://i.imgur.com/GXS1hWc.jpg But does the one u saw have an all white chest and are u going to get her when u have the cash ?

Pics attached. She didn't look like yours. More white all over and an airy Carmel color. If she is still there then yes. Got the cash now just need to get to the store. Also I might buy icestorms societies to add to my society family.

Does kiwi have flank spots and breast barring? And sing? If not then looks like “he” may be a “she”

FinchLover&Breeder oh I might have noticed why they aren’t using the nest properly I’ve noticed u have the perch higher than the nest it’s better to have nest higher than any perch in the cage they feel more secure in it

And yes u shud get ice storm society’s they are good ones

Ok. If I can get in touch with him then consider them part of my family. If not I'll just get the one from the pet store if it's still there. If she is then the moment I can I'll post pics. I just hope icestorm's societies come with a cage. How do you like the way I have it setup right now? I need to find a way to fit more cages in my room while saving as much space as I can because I want more birds but don't have the cages or cage room for them right now. They have been sleeping in the nests but no eggs of course. The Kiwi, Thing 1, and Thing 2 don't let Oreo in the nest at night so he sleeps on a perch like a guard. I hope to get another cage and make it societies only so everyone will get along with their own kind.

I'm not sure. I'll have to check.

I think ur setup is good however for more space if ur willing is you clan build a large square wooden back board on the back of your table and it can have four slots for four cages even more maybe six if u get some cheap cage fronts online this way you can have all your society’s in one and plenty of cage space for future birds/chicks etc

They are quite cheap to make some company’s give this material away and you c an nock them up easy

FinchLover&Breederand yeh zebras won’t let others in the nest however u will find when Oreo has some back up societys they will overrule the zebras they become the dominant ones
