Nice! Love the firetails!

Do you have a favorite species?

It is difficult to pin down a favorite. I get enormous pleasure from the antics of the Firetails and Cubans, both species are personality plus, the OBs are just pretty, the Gouldians are always visually wonderful and the Parrot Finch is a nice active member of the community. If I had to choose one species to keep, it would be a toss-up between Firetails and Cubans.
Then there are the double-bars, the Star Finches, St Helenas and King quails. They all have their own charm and of an evening I enjoy sharing some Country music with them over a glass of red.
I guess the best answer is YES. I have a favorite species for every day!

And I forgot to mention the Ruddys. He is spectacular when lit up in the afternoon sun!

mickenglish - can you get your cordon bleus to successfully raise their own babies? If so, what do you feed them? I guess I never had enough live food (or not the right kind of live food), so they eventually tossed/abandoned their chicks.

To date, the cordons have not laid eggs that I know of. They have made a couple of nests together, but for reasons known only to them, they do not produce any young, They are in a new nest again now and regularly getting stuck into the mealworms so I am waiting to see if they will spring a few little surprises on me this time.
