Finches perching on silk ivy vine

Post by Stickgal » Fri Aug 23, 2019 4:15 pm

My strawberry finches love to perch on the plastic vine of my silk ivy at the top of my aviary. Should I discourage this? They sleep on it and spend a lot of time on it. There are perches, a ladder swing, grasses, etc.in the aviary.
I'm very happy being me, although sometimes I'd love to be a bird so that I could fly. Joy Fielding

Why would you want to do that! If they enjoy perching there, leave it there.

Nothing wrong with them perching on the vine. Birds in the wild perch on all sorts of objects, from grasses to shrubs to vines to tree branches. Our caged birds are stuck with whatever we give them. I've never seen a caged finch that didn't like perching on a vine.

Oh ok. Was worried about their feet. Thanks!
