You know you are a true addict when you have filled your house, buildings, and such with birds that you go and purchase the house next door just to be able to close in the double garage to make aviaries, have storage and grow plants and food...... Some food for us in the raised wood beds out front but I grow lots of stuff for my birdies.....

Blueribbontoes.... Actually we live in the house to the right. We bought the house really for investment. It added like 46' of waterfront to our 25'. Also It was being rented from long distance and the tenants were awful...
We will eventually tear it down and build another 3 story tower with garages and possiby a pool...... We just finished the remoulding of our main house so we are not in a hurry to start any time soon.
My 34 year old daughter is staying for a while in the upstairs living area.
Ray Ray..... I am 51 and Hubby soon to be 51 and me are newlyweds..... almost 5 years now. Took me a while but I found the right one. He's the greatest.... and he is a real estate investor...so the house next door was a no brainer.
But I figured if you got it why not use it for birds..... What else could be as good??
Okay... this is the beginning of the Crazy Bird House
My daughter has moved on and I have the entire house back...well me and the birds sooo.... My wonderful husband has no plans on doing anything with the property for a while soooooo .... he is building me more aviaries...did I mention he is the greatest We are using the downstairs for storage.... the aviaries are already outside under the carport and now we are beginning to turn the upstairs into a bird sanctuary. I will be posting the progress as we go along.
First we are removing carpet and pad, ceiling fans, appliances..... these will be used in some of our rental houses. We are putting down linoleum and replacing the ceiling fans with 4 tube florescent lights, snug to the ceiling. So this is where we start
Up the stairs...
This will be the main aviary. The banister will be removed and a wire wall will be built with a door to enter. There will be another wall built dividing the main aviary (old living room) from the breeding cage area (old dining room) There is a galley kitchen off of that so water and sink are handy.
The balcony is already wired, we still need to redo the roof overhang on the balcony...it is leaking water and drooping. Also this outside area needs to be screened. There is great lighting here with lots of windows(that will be covered with wire so the birds don't crash) and skylights.
There is also a great breeze off the water and tropical surroundings... also there are 2 other rooms that just may become aviaries or winter rooms for flight cages.......
This room will be the main aviary with a door entering there at the opening between the bannister and built in shelves.
Another wire wall with door will be built right after the built in shelves with another wire door. The aviary will measure about 18' x 15'
The dining area will serve as cage space and with the stove and fridge gone looks like flight cage space to me
Nice natural lighting from skylights and nothing handier than a potty.... that is one thing I dislike about my other gouldian bird building...has everything but a potty
The balcony with great breezes and views. And then we have 2 more rooms that I am sure will be used for something.........any ideas?
So this is the beginning....... my new parrot finches will love it

young people should move to Florida too...not just the old
I did think of using the one room for independent fledglings..especially gouldians to fly and color out..actually any young....maybe like a nursery/kindergarten. Just let them have at it ..... I like to give the young lots of space to fly and build strong bodies
My husband's Handy Man is over there pulling the carpet tack strip up as I type, Hubby has gone to Lowe's for the lumber and I am so excited. I think I will leave the walls that soft beige/peach color. We painted for my daughter less than a year and a half ago so it is in good shape..... I think the color will be okay on the birds eyes...what do you think? It is bright but not glaring.....I really don't want to paint... There will be some of the floor that gets painted. The linoleum we bought on sale and it is not quite enough to cover the whole floor. I plan on laying the linoleum where the bird bath/ food stuff will be. Easy to clean...of course the paint is washable too. Well I am off to check on the progress
Today we got the bannister railing down, the ceiling fans down..and 1 flush mount florescent 4 bulb fixture installed. The appliances were removed and the carpet and pad carried out. Went shopping and bought another fountain and plants for the downstairs aviary. Also got the last of the plastic and frame off the outdoor aviary.......
Ceiling fan and light gone...bannister gone...
New flush mount light......
Appliances removed....
We are working on a rental tommorrow so maybe we will get more done friday
