Crazy Birdhouse Planted Aviary

Post by CandoAviary » Fri Jun 26, 2009 10:26 pm

This is a large flight that has 6, 3 foot tall breeding cages with a pair of grasskeets in each. Nest boxes are hung but no eggs yet. The top of the cages are almost touching the ceiling so no finches can get on top and poop on them
The open aviary will be used by the new arrivals. The finch house will be used by the new arrivals :D :D

That is half of the carport. Since it was already covered and had corner pillars it was really easy to build the aviaries. There is a hallway that goes down the center and another aviary on the right and inside that is a smaller aviary for the goldbreast.

Looks great and fingers crossed for you to have a successful season with the keets.

The purple martin house will be for whoever wants to use it :D I will be putting goldbreast waxbills( 2 pairs), red throat parrot finches (1 pair) and gouldian finches ( 2 pair) in this aviary. I will also use the space for young gouldians to grow out and color up in. The house has 12 compartments of the right size for finches. I will also hand other nest boxes around so they will have their choice. It is an experiment. I will let you know if anyone clains it? I have a feeling that if the red throats claim it no one else will try to use it :?
I guess if it fails, I can put it in the goldbreast only aviary (they don't mind nesting close together or the zebras aviary...they will use anything :D or I will put it outdoors for the purple martins

Sounds good! :D Yep! Let me know if anyone uses it! Should be interesting! :D My grandfather has a LARGE established colony of purple martins back home in AL, and when I saw the house it reminded me of one of the ones he has up! hehe! I wish you the best of luck with it! OH! Awesome job at all the aviaries, and decorations, and all that jazz! It looks REALLY good! :D
