Those are really nice, I like them. The colorstain on the wood is lovely. How big are you planning to build your aviary?

an indoor part that equals 8" by 8" ... with an outside flight of about 7" by 7" ....

but have been getting quotes on materials, 3x2 lengths (2.4m), exterior plyboard and roof materials (plastic corragated / felt roof) etc etc,
and these seem to be quite total price busting as the mesh seems to be the most expensive material of all ..

I would eventually like to build this one. JohnBoy pointed it out to me, he has one like this. I love the swinging doors.

Believe it or not it is too far different from the one i've designed from scratch, with the swinging door acting as a "safe porch" etc, made me smile in fact as i consider myself amateur as this will be my first build, but shows me i'm thinking along the right lines :)

I really like the set up, I have an enclosed porch/pool area and had a finch get out of it's cage. I had a heck of a time getting him. The safe door will help prevent that. The only thing I would do is to run a thick plexiglass (so I can see them) or awood barrier around the outside about 2 feet up to keep mice, rats or snakes out (if they got onto the porch somehow). It would also keep the bird seed contained and not all over.

I would build a floor to it and secure large caster on the bottom to move it so I can keep the area around it clean.
