The diamond sparrows are VERY territorial...but the flight is big enough for aggression to subside before it gets serious. The bird pictured a few posts back is a devil when the other male is around, chasing him all over. The others tactic is to land on the floor and sit still till the aggressive one returns to his nest. They both have hens in their nests...probably on eggs as they are rarely out...I 'aint gonna risk getting nosy...not yet anyway.
One has nested in a box,the other in one of the hay balls I have hanging.
These are made of two wire hanging baskets filled with hay then wired together.Holes are then pushed into a few places to form nest sites...the birds love 'em....not easy to examine eggs etc if deep into the ball though.
The diamond sparrows aggression is aimed mainly at the other cock bird...he also objects to the hecks and owls being near.Strangely he ignores bengalese and gouldians. It's as if he doesn't like other birds with black in their plumage.
