crab grass nibbles okay for finches?

Hello everybody-

I've got another food question (can you tell I'm a chef? obessed!)
My Spice finches Garuda and Ajawan won't eat any veggies I give them, but when I tie bundles of crab grass that's got seed heads on it to their stick perch they go wild nibbling on the seeds and pulling on it. We don't spray pesticides or herbicides on our yard. Do you think it's okay for them?

welcome to the forum!i should think the crabgrass will not do them any harm but the stalks will probably end up as nest material
