Food during breeding time

Post by Carmen » Fri Mar 16, 2007 12:54 pm

Hi,

I was interested in your food providing during the breeding season.
What kind of food do you provide to get them in the right mood, during incubating and while having chicks?

I would be delighted to know which food providing was succesful for you and with which species?
At the moment I have four pairs of waxbills I try to breed with, a pair of Owls, African Firefinches, Redfaced Crimsonwings, and Goldbreasts.
I found out that they prefer all different types of living food. For example the African Fire's don't like buffalo's. and the Crimsonwings just can't get enough of them.

Please share your experience :)

Question first - What is Buffalo's??

I find that during breeding season I use an egg mix with egg shells, hard boil eggs, sunflower seeds {smashed}, and some Zupreem fruit flavored diet. At times I'll add some kind of germ, or bread, or for my meat eaters I add dried flies, worms which are called:Orlux insect mix.

This mixture I feed to my Gouldians, and Zebras, Societies, Stars, Nuns, and Canaries!
