are soaked legumes alright to feed to my birds?

What type of legumes?

I feed my birds sprouted mung beans. They love it and it's a first choice for some species around the green food bowl. Initially I chopped them a bit finer just to introduce them to the birds as they ignored the larger sprout, but now give it to them whole and they eat them like a parrot would peanuts.

The most tender legumes for birds, especially finches would be clovers (like dutch white clover or crimson clover) or alfalfa as these have a more tender leaflets but are just as high in protein.

Alfalfa and clover are great for your birds but they're not legumes.

A legume is not limited to only peas and beans but is a common misconsepection. Legumes can range from large shrubs like aeschynomene, sunn hemp and other vetches to your common clovers and medics. While all of these are not excellent for finches an other foul they do for symbotic relationships with micro organisms that will introduce nitrogen (like what is in your fertilizers) into the soil thus making the plant higher in protein for forage or green manure.
