Oat Groats for Javas

Post by George » Wed Jan 04, 2012 8:53 am

I got a pair of Javas a few day ago. Very interesting birds. They seems like they try to understand what you are saying to them   .
I understand they like oats. I was wonder if the Parakeet mix with oats would be enough or better to add more to their basic diet ?
Any other advice on feeding would be great. Thanks.

Mixing parakeet seed with finch seed or offering it separately works well for Javas. They are one of my favorite finches.

They also make small containers of the oats and groats, I use to get it at PetSmart and Petco.

Javas are really neat little birds, I had them many years ago.

You can also try boiled, grated egg, romaine, grated carrots, veggies. This list is very helpful as to what foods are great to use.
