Any time I read that something is good for the birds, I try it.
But for some problem I have a problem with sprouting seeds.
I have tried it over and over, but either I am doing something wrong or I just don't get it.
It seems to take forever to sprout and then my birds could care less about it.
Could someone who has success with this please give me some advice.
Thanks!

Hi Donna,
I'll help, or least offer what I do.
I soak the seeds using a metal mesh strainer. I rinse them several times and let them soak for about 8 hours. I rinse again a few more times and then let them sit out of the water. Don't allow the seed to dry out. Rinse again once or twice a day for a few days and they will sprout.
Allowing the seeds to sit in water greatly reduces their nutritional value.
Some seeds sprout quicker than others. If the seed doesn't sprout, then the seed is too old.

I don't necessarily dry the seeds off, but I use a smaller strainer to allow all the excess water to drain. Moist is what I would describe the seeds. If left over night, the seeds will just dry out so there isn't a chance they will mold. The seeds will mold however, if you don't rinse them everyday. If you're worried about mold, you can add Sparkle or KD to the water.
