Bag-o-bugs for rccb??
I was wondering if anyone has any feed back on
Bag-o-bugs .... I was thinking about using it for my rccb and fire finches
I've tryed some of the other mixs that are out there -- they really don't seem to like it -- I make my own mix of bloodworms mealworm and afew other things and they like it ... But I was readin the ingredients in bag- o-bugs liked what I saw
Ingredients:
Ground Rape Seed, Niger Seed, Recleaned Canary Seed, German Millet, Proso Millet, (Dehydrated & Ground, Insectary-Raised) Flies, Fly Larvae, Fly Pupae, Crickets, Ant Eggs, Ground Flax Seed, Red Millet, Oat Groats, Rye Grass Seeds, Sweet Pepper Seed, Poppy Seed, Lecthin, Brown Sugar.
--- just didn't know if it was worth it or not ?????

I only had RCCBS for a short while but they did raise one clutch. They refused any premade bug stuff. The only ate mealworms or occasionally bloodworms. I would save your $$ and not buy it.

I agree. My rccb's won't eat anything but real, live bugs when breeding. They toss out everything else!

My CB's will eat dried meal bugs which I grind up. I get large bags at walmart for about $6 in the bird seed dept..

Re: Bag-o-bugs for rccb??
I just recently am trying something new with mine. I found this egg food called "Goldy Egg Food for Insectivores for softbills and finches" - it is prepared egg food, but with bugs mixed in. I'll let you know how it goes!
Ingredients are egg biscuit, honey, raisins, peanuts, mountain ash berries, elder berries, dehydrated ant eggs, dehydrated prawns, dehydrated shrimps, dehydrated insects (waterflies).
They suggest giving it either by itself or mixing with 25% soaked carrots or rusk? (don't even know what rusk is)
