After having Gouldians for a lot of years I feed them Moores Finch Mix plus small Golden millet which the same as found on the Spray Millet. Japanese Millet is also something they like. Really the type of seed they like the best is White Millet and Canary seed which is the same seed as fed to budgies. To get them to breed you need to introduce them to egg food. You can buy packages of this at pet stores, I mix hard boiled egg minced fine into this mix. I feed greens which are the same things as the small greens you buy for salads in the grocery store. A diced up apple is also given.
Hard boil the egg for at least ten minutes. You can chop it up fine egg shell and all. The shell is good for calcium but make sure it is boiled to eliminate any germs. I use a food chopper that chops everything up really well just by pounding the top thinky.
You should also know that many Gouldians are produced by putting the eggs under Society Finches which rear them without any problems. Goudians have, with some pairs, the bad habbit of throwing the young out of the nest when they are just tiny. Try to breed them without the use of Society Finches.
