If it's soaked, can they eat it uncooked?

I read somewhere that quinoa must be rinsed to clean off the saponin coating on the seed. It can be soaked and it sprouts rapidly. My birds didn't care for it sprouted but they do like it when it's cooked. I make a batch then after cooking, add grated carrots, then I add shredded kale. The heat from the quinoa cooks the carrots and kale. I then portion this out into foil packets that hold a couple of days worth of food. I keep one bag in the refrigerator and freeze the others.

I had empty plates and dishes...it was a hit. I plan on looking for a large quanity and make it on a schedule basis for my flock! Next time shaved broccoli tops and grated carrots!

Sounds great glad they liked it, your next recipe sounds great... may have to cook some up tomorrow. Mine also love whole wheat cous cous with flax seed.....i bet the quinoa is healthier though!

Although it is only just now feeding time at the zoo #-o It seems to be a hit. I mixed it with dry eggfood.

I soaked a half box of quinoa over night...it sprouted, rinsed and drained it in a fine strainer and served. They flocked to it!! Even Rummy, the official taste tester!!! He eats anything!

The owls love it!!!!

Thank you Heather for the tip!!!! :D

I also added some dried steel cut oatmeal to the top of the seed, they like that as well. Sharing my McCann's oatmeal with them...
