Canaries and Finches Eating From Each Others Bowls!

Post by omz123 » Fri Mar 01, 2013 3:35 pm

Hi,

My Canary and Finches have been Eating From Each Others Bowls!

Is this okay?

Would it be a bad idea if I were to just mix the canary and finch food together?

Each food is designed to give each bird the nutrients that they specifically need to stay healthy and modified to how they eat the seed.
However canaries and finches are both "softbills" Which means that they eat pretty much the same sort of seed in the same way. As long as they are getting the nutrients that they need, I don't see any harm in doing it that way at all.

(Also just noting, that most pet stores put their canaries in with their finches and they share the same seed trays, so it is being done already)

I don't think there is any way to prevent the birds from going to either bowl unless you take them out of the enclosure. I would mix the seed together. :)
