Is it just too cold??

We have two Owl finches (that's it... just getting started!) that I'm feeding the following on a daily basis:

Volkman Avian Science for Finches - always available in two dishes/cups
Kaytee HiCal Grit - always available, separate dish
Eggfood - Provided fresh, AM and PM
Greens - Romaine, spinach, broccoli, etc. - provided fresh, AM

I put half of a millet spray in every 3 or 4 days.

I've noticed that the pair will check out the fresh food when I first put it in the flight, but they don't eat it. I work from home, so I get to observe them throughout the day and have noticed that they hop down to eat the eggfood and greens about 2-3 hours after I put it in.

The fresh food is kept in the fridge, so is it just too cold when I first put it in there? Any concerns with letting it sit for a couple of hours before they eat it?

I leave my egg food in the aviary till the next morning. I've been doing this for 10+ years without a problem. With egg food I spread it thinly on a dish so that it will dry out before going bad. Usually within 3 hours it's all gone.

I put my fresh veggies and eggfood in the cages at 6:30 am and don't remove it until I get home from work at 5:30 pm. Been doing this for 20+ years. A little canola oil in the egg food will help to keep it from spoiling (just kidding, haha). Actually, I do use the Javafinch UK eggfood recipe which has two oils in it and it does help to keep the egg food fresh. I substitute vitamin E oil for the safflower oil (to aid in fertility) but use the cod liver oil as directed. Bob

I put veggies in straight from the fridge and the temperature never bothers my societies. Anyway, it should warm up to room temperature fairly soon. If you haven't had them long, it may just be that they aren't used to it. It sometimes takes a while for them to try and develop a taste for fresh vegetables. Some they will like, some they won't. Mine are just developing an enthusiasm for green beans, but after a year still have nothing but contempt for broccoli, though many here have birds who like it.
