I heard of ppl mixing eggfood with seeds. I wouldnt think it harm the birds, they might like it more.

The dried eggfood should really be dampened, especially for chicks as this is the only source of water for the chicks. In which case it should be kept seperate and changed before it goes off.
Dry,it can be mixed with seed, but I would have thought wasteful mixing with seed husks and thrown away.

I'm with Paul. No point in mixing it dry.

I mix egg food in with my soaked/sprouted seeds along with a little vitamin supplement sprinkled on top. This is fed each morning and removed in the afternoon so it doesn't go off. Pairs feeding young are given a top up before dark.

Hmmmm ok .. I am trying to get the Gouldians to eat it , just through winter as a supplement, but being fussy birds thay wont take it from a dish on its own?? I agree with the wastage though... I know there is alot of info and getting your birds to eat new things, and all mine do (parrot finches, cubans, stars, painted etc) except the Gouldians. They sit there watching the other birds eat a range of different foods and then fly straight to the seed... oh no hang on they do it baked egg shell...but thats it!!! Any ideas?? Keep in mind that my Gouldians also sit out in the hail, so maybe they are not all there in the head...

Sometimes I sprinkle it on top of the seed and sometimes give it dried alone. Either way all my birds like it better then when it was wet. Even my button quail likes a pile of it dried. Sometimes I'll mix a bit of oyster shell in there too. There are only so many dishes I can keep cleaning each day. lol

Try fresh hard boiled egg...much more appetising than the dried stuff.Gouldians are picky eaters but mine will go for the fresh, although never in any quantity.

They are loving the boiled egg... thanks for the advice. So is the following enough for a well balanced diet:

-fresh seeding grasses daily
-good mixed seed
-boiled egg, sun flower kernels, oats, orange and apple

Is this enough during breeding/chick rearing???

Thanks so much!
