Silo type feeder

Post by metinemre » Sat Jul 20, 2013 8:40 pm

How often do you renew the food inside the silo if it`s not finished? It takes a lot of seeds in it if i clean it everyday and trash uneaten that`s a big waste, if i fill it less than it`s nonsense to use a silo.

Does it get humid and eventually moldy if i fill it up and wait until all food is gone? Humidity is usually around 45-55% in my apartment cos of the monsoon in summer or humidifiers during winter.

I leave seed in my food hoppers, similar to a seed silo until it's gone. Just check and make sure the seeds aren't getting wet or too moist is humidity is a problem.

I leave it too. Unless your conditions are really unusual, it should be fine. I don't know what kind of silo you have, but I'm sure you know the one thing you have to watch is that the area they can get to isn't just filled with hulls.
