Green milky wheat

Post by Perfex » Mon May 26, 2014 10:56 pm

my daughter and I picked wheat from a local field yesterday. It's at the green milky stage which is perfect for feeding to the finches. They go crazy for it!! I picked 5 Kroger bags full and put 4 in the freezer, and one in the fridge.

What a wonderful treat!
Did you have to wash or treat it in any way to remove pesticides and/or fertilizer? Or was it natural growing?

This reminded me of my childhood. We would take walks around the neighborhood and there was an area of forest with blackberry bushes and we'd pick until our buckets were full. We'd eat them and we'd share them with our birds. It was delicious and wonderful.
