How big of a particle can a (zebra) finch eat?

I have some shredded unsweetened coconut and I'd like to offer a bit to the zebras. Should I grind it into tiny bits or is a shred something that a finch can handle?

Not certain of coconut, (shredded or not) is good for finches. Have never come across the idea of offering it to the kids.

Will have to check more on that one.

Higgins seed, their fruit and veggie ix contains fine pieces of shredded coconut....if you can shred it fine it should be good
