Cod Liver Oil & Wheat Germ Oil ???

Hello All...

In a Post by Neeraj (NRJ), about the Green Day Diet, I came across the use of Cod liver oil (yech), and What germ oil in finch diets.

Is this something that I should be looking into? The write up abiut the benefits of these two oils, sounds very convincing, and also sounds like it might be healthy and a good idea.

Any thoughts from anyone who is, or has been using these oils? Pros and cons?

I have used both in the past, but the cod liver oil does tend to go rancid easily. I kept both in the refrigerator, but I quit using cod liver oil some time ago, certainly not in my eggfood in the hot summer.

I guess if the cod liver oil goes off, I'll have to drink it myself ...

Some breeders mix it with seed, but I would worry that it might go bad. I mix toasted wheat germ in with their soft food and veggies a few times a week. Never used the oils for that reason. I guess it would be alright, if you are very careful with it.

I'm thinking that adding a drop to their egg once in a while might be beneficial, and might be worhwhile a try.

Just came across this post - we always had to take cod liver oil as children.

Oddly enough, I love the taste and will break up the capsules in my mouth. Ah, Childhood
