Feeding help for Mama Zebra w/five chicks

Post by Pukasand » Mon Jan 12, 2009 5:18 pm

My Mama Zebra has five healthy chicks. I had to take Daddy out as he was becoming assertive toward Mama and babies. It just seems, especially since they are getting bigger, that Mama is working 24/7 to feed these chicks. THey have seed, millet and fresh veggies/fruits plus eggfood and pecking at them all, but is there anything else I can do to alleviate some of the feeding strain on Mama? Three of the chicks are normal, one is a crybaby and one is a bully. She has her hands (wings) full. :D

Sounds good to me too - she'll be fine. Have you noticed them starting to eat on their own yet?

Yes, they're pecking, but not enough to sustain themselves. Just thought I'd give Mom some relief. She's a real trooper. I guess all is well, then.
