So, after reading the forum some more, and because I've been giving my birds a varied diet, I decided to switch the birds back from pellets to seed. Now, as you know, in one cage, I have a pair of zebras with young. I didn't want to change at this point, because I was worried that if I messed with things it would dissuade them from caring for the babies, as it is their first clutch. Instead, I added a small dish of seed to the cage for them, and left the pellets in the main dish. The have been eating ONLY the seed, and completely ignoring the pellets. All the pellets seem to be good for to them is pooping in. Do you think it would be o.k. to just remove the pellets?
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Tara

Re: Switching back to seed...
I think it would be no problem to move them. I offer a bowl of pellets in my aviary because I have enough room to do so. But very seldom is it even eaten.
I think you have proved that birds prefer seeds.
