Charcoal question, would the charcoal that you can buy for fish be just as good for birds. I have read Gomers article on making my own and considered it until my husband chimed in. I'm scared I might be using wrong wood or something. Anyway any info would be appreciated. Heidi

I too wondered about that same thing..since we have fish and all...
But I didnt want to take the chance and it is cheap so I ordered from ladygouldianfinch to be safe!

I think any charcoal should be ok...it's only wood after all.

Charcoal is so inexpensive why take any chances - just use the stuff from one of the bird supply places...just my suggestion.

i would only use charcoal made for birds and i always add a little to the eggfood for all my finches.
