I just peel hard boiled eggs, no baking the shell or microwaving them. When you bake or nuke them they become very brittle and have much sharper edges. The birds have no problem with the membrane. Fresh eggs are extremely hard to peel, if you wait about a week they are much easier.

When I boil egg I take all the egg shells and throw them in the microwave for about 2 or 3 minutes. If the are really hot to the touch and you can break them by just pressing slightly on them, I say they are done.

I usually put them in a air tight container. Then I mash them up between my fingers when I feed them...

Oh my gosh how fast those tiny beaks grab those shells.... Love hearing the sounds. Its like you juast made their day and gave them a million dollar dinner.

My way I have yet to notice that any harm has come to the birds. I like hatched from twinbeaks that you can buy, but it's already so small. I'd rather give them fresh and let them break it up. Also gives them something to do...

All my shells are from raw eggs. I put the cracked, unrinsed, egg shells back in the carton and wait until I have a large collection of cartons. Then all the shells get placed onto a large baking sheet and baked at ~350. Almost the only time that I boil eggs is for egg food and the shelled eggs go right into the food processor.
