Do I have to feed worms ?

Post by Barbara » Thu May 05, 2016 10:28 am

I have a pair of red cheeked Bleu's my question is they seem to be doing great eating vege, fruit eggs mix, wet seed and finch seed and Millett, and occasionally seed for moulting and song seed.I have absolutely no interest in breeding there is no nest or material in there to get them started.I want what is best for them to live a healthy life but do they have to have worms if no breeding ?

If you don't want to breed, there is no need to feed live food unless you just want to. The live food often acts as a breeding trigger, so you probably don't want to go there. You can feed them egg food as a treat, but not on a daily basis, as the high protein in egg food can also act as a breeding trigger. A couple times a week should be more than enough for the egg food. A nice varied diet with seed, plenty of veggies, and a calcium/mineral source should keep them healthy.
