Donna
The raw wheat germ comes in like powder,I tried that in egg food a long time ago they didn't seem to like it .I put the wheat germ oil on seeds sometimes I read somewhere that its good for them, can't say I have seen any benefit but who really knows mine seem to be healthy until they get sick and most of the time we don't know whats wrong with them anyway.
I really think what works for you won't necessarily works for someone else there are to many factors unless you feed the exact same diet and supplements. Every time someone tells about what they use seems like I try it am starting to get very confused with there diet I keep getting more bottles and containers of food and food additives, what do i feed today no stop fed that yesterday

I feed the same every day for each season (in breeding/moulting season and out of season) but I change their water supplements daily and I keep a small list printed as follows:
Monday - Vitamins
Tuesday - Clear
Wednesday - Calcium
Thursday - Clear
Friday - Clear
Saturday - Iodine
Sunday - Clear
The only different in foods for each season is the hardboiled eggfood/soakseed with CLO and WGO will be removed for when they are out of season.

Yes all my birds get the same vitamins and calcium in their water. Sometimes I leave the iodine out of the Waxbills and Societies (if they are not fostering) water.
The vitamins I give are "Ornalyte" which I have to order from the USA (of course) as my local petstore doesn't carry it anymore.

I get my wheat germ oil at the local feed store. I think most feed stores carry it.
Cod liver oil I get at Walgreens...it is cherry flavor. I know Walmart has it also in orange flaver.

all of you nice people in Ontario should get together and buy a pet shop ooops make that a finch shop. think of the money you could all save

Addicted to Finches, yes I do admit it.
I pray they never find a cure.

If we all ordered from the same supplier maybe we could start getting a discount on what each of us buy. I think fairest finch's gave that once but I didn't order cause i had just gotten A order from someone else, could work
