The first site (Exotic Wings & Things) is a Canadian site - I've ordered the Orlux Ant Eggs from them. Was happy with the quick delivery time.

But next time I'll try the second link. Seems a better price for the eggs, and Canada Post is notoriously high shipping costs! Thanks for that link!

If anyone in Canada is interested I did email the second link (Bird Supply of NH) and they confirmed that they can indeed ship dead/dried bugs to Canada.

Quite a few vendors in the USA won't or can't ship to us here.

Not sure if the waxbills will eat the ants, but they will eat the eggs. Anything they leave can get added to the eggfood and then they'll eat it. So I'll try this blend next time instead of the orlux. I've ordered the canned mealworms and other things from Fairest Finches, and got them quicker than my order from a Canadian supplier even though I'm in Canada. And the shipping was a good 30% LESS on the order from the US, even though it was almost the same distance as the crow flies. So I try to order from the US now, which is a shame, but that's thanks to those #$$%^%^ postal workers who have priced themselves out of my business!

Fran - When you order them - can you let me know (PM if you like) what the shipping is for it. I'll then order some too but recently I've found out that USPS has hiked thier rates "through the roof"!

I was going to order a small 5" square plastic nestbox for $6 from LadyGouldian.com but the shipping was going to be $14 (US)!! I can't order from the US anymore if rates are stupid-high like that!.

Now I'm using Kleenex boxes for nestbox and they work just fine too!

Yes, I always wait until I have a few items, otherwise it's just not worth it to mail order. Not sure when I'll be ordering again. I only have the two little GBs, so don't plan on ordering more for at least 4 or 5 months! You might not want to wait that long.

I went to my local petshop to pick up more mealworms (I still can't believe I'm doing that) but I went over to the fish dept and also bought a small can of Dried Bloodworms. Wow they are expensive at $7 for a small can. Do you just sprinkle a pinch in with the mealworms and eggfood (I hope)...?

I first bought a small can at Zellers pet department for around $3.99.

But then found a brand called O.S.I. in a local pet store in the fishfood section. It's about a 6 inch tall can, so will last these guys for a year or more!

It was only $9.99. Look for a tall red can with O.S.I. on it in white letters. The web address on the can is www.oceanstarinternational.com though I haven't looked at it. They're in California, but seem to be readily available in some pet stores out west.

Yes they really only need a pinch, what with all the other stuff they get every day. I add it to the dry eggfood most days, and also some dried ant eggs. And the dry eggfood I buy is Goldie's Insect Eggfood, so they're getting lots. I'm really surprised how much they like the insects. Never even knew they'd eat this stuff before I came on here.
