insect supreme or quicko's 'goldy?'

Post by blueribbontoes » Mon Mar 02, 2009 4:18 pm

I was B-A-D and purchased a pair of red ear waxbills. Now from what I read, these little boomers like insects (as well as my owl.) Now, I plan on offering meal worms ocassionally, but would you suggest 'Insect Supreme,' from ladybug, or Quicko 'goldy' for insect eaters as a daily soft food? They already have egg food offered daily, so I am leaning towards the IS, but wanted someone else's opinion before placing an order.

Since these guys live in a flight cage, my societies won't be harmed if they eat some, too, will they? Thanks!

My lovely automatic spell check changed some words I see. For instance, I won't be feeding anything lady bugs. I will try items from ladygouldianfinch.com, lol!!

My Goldbreasted Waxbills get the Quicko Goldie Eggfood with Insects daily. They also get home made eggfood with a bit of this dry mix added. I've not tried the Insect Supreme. I don't feed live mealworms, just the canned ones from Fairest Finches, and they love them, especially when feeding babies. As far as insects go, I also feed them Orlux Ant Eggs, and dried bloodworms (from the fish department).

Lol, ok- as soon as I get to an actual computer (I use my blackberry for computer access temporarily, and it won't let me upload photos on this website for some reason...) I will post some just for you!

Whatever you decide to get, I suggest getting the smallest size first, to see if they will eat it. Since I have a lot of birds, I always get the biggest sizes of things. Then, when the birds don't like it, I am stuck with it. The wild birds get offered some strange things sometimes!
