Are there herbs or plants I could grow for my finches?
I just planted a herb garden. I started with sweet basil, lemon thyme, chives, pineapple sage, cilantro, and mint. I might add to it later. I was wondering if there are any herbs or other plants I could grow that would be good for my finches to eat?

I really feel that any herb that is edible for us would be OK for the birds, as long as it is offered in moderation. After all, Twin Beaks Herb Salad is made up of something like 22 herbs.

Twin Beaks Herb Salad has:
Dandelion root & leaves
Oatstraw tops
Plantain leaf
Red clover leaf & blossom
Milk thistle seed
Echinacea herb
Pau d' arco bark
Elder berry & flower
Yarrow flower
Thyme leaf
Olive leaf
Lavender flower
Wheatgrass powder
Garlic flakes
Spirulina powder
Astragalus root
Barberry root
Chickweed herb
Kelp granules
Licorice root
Wormwood herb
Marshmallow root
And there are so many more that you could give. I like to give herbs that suport their immune system rather then ones that cure. I have ever given alfalfa leaf, celery seed, chickweed, dandelion, shepard's purse and spirulina just to name a few.
