My finches do NOT like the dark/black seeds. 99% of the time they eat the light colored seeds; I think mostly white millet. The dark seeds are left behind, and go to my wife's canary, who is going thru his molt and is eating all the dark seeds I put in his seed dish. So here is the question.
What light colored seeds are high in protein and fat for breeding finches especially when they are feeding chicks?
tnx

Do you birds eat Canary seed?
It's relatively high in protein compared to plain ol white Millet.
You could also try adding in varieties of millet:
Japanese, Red, German, Siberian, etc..

Thanks Tiffany
Don't know if they eat canary seed, but I have some for my wifes canary, so it will be easy to try.
I will stop by the local seed shop soon as I can.
