I should clarify that I used the bleach for the last maybe 6 months of sprouting my own seeds and the death rate dropped amazingly well, I just decided that it wasnt worth it any longer.

Maybe someday Ill get brave and try again when I have LOTS of birds and a death wont put me outta business. lol

Bacteria can be dangerous to our birds that is why I feed any moist food on flat dishes. I use the flat lids from the larger yogurt containers, but I have heard of people using small paper plates too. Anything that allows the food to dry is safer than deep seed dishes that allow the moist food to grow bacteria.

Correct hence the nylons cause they can breathe, and NOPE Shipping would be MINIMUM 50.00 lol

We are talking 2 drops of bleach to a HUGE amount of seeds folks, Thats how all local breeders do theres.
Im sure ya dont HAVE to but its for the bacteris ya know

Well I guess $50 shipping for freshly bleached seeds beats $60 for a cage whos date of manufaturing you don't know...

Fancie Flight....just deliver them by Pony Express (You have horses...right?)

If you start now you could get to MN by May or so just before the Mosquitoes come out...but the Wood Ticks will be after you!

I think if we refer to the compatibility chart FH and HJ will NOT be compatible and should be kept separately.

Back to bleach. I also use a weak bleach solution on my sprouted seeds, don't know how well it works or doesn't.

I'm still intrigued about FF removing sprouted seeds from the diet. Everything said makes sense so I guess the question is. Is it worth serving the sprouted seeds then? If so how much nutritional value do they contain? If not what would you suggest replacing them with bearing in mind that I am very meticulous about serving a Balanced diet?

All I can say is what I am doing is working for me, My birds get FRESH Seed daily fresh water daily, Bacteria is SUCH an issue with birds,

In seperate seed dishes I supply 24/7 charcoal, grit, oyster shell. a cutle bone in each cage. egg shell also supplied but not 24/t and I am now using DRY EGG food only, I as well as a herb salad mix,
They also have sunshine/daylight bulbs on EACH cage and red heat lamps 24/7
and
so for me this works for others I dunno we each have our own ways.

Well I'm probably the laziest person in the world so the less food I prepare the better for me!! That being said I have found my birds enjoying the wet mix I provide. I was on the brink of removing all wet foods from my cages until I saw their reaction.

I just read somewhere that sprouted seeds had 300% the nutritional value of normal dry seeds (maybe the FIC can't remember), that why I re-explored the idea. I don't want to do anything to compromise the safety of my birds either so maybe I'll just stick to my wet food recipe for now.

Just on the dry egg food, my birds hardly touch the stuff, maybe just because I provide the wet mix, so if I remove my wet mix, will the go back to the dry food easy?
