Mia if they are canned peas than they are probably cooked. Do your zebras like them?

Hand down the pea shouts are the favorite of my birds. They go nuts whenever I put them in the cage and they're gone within an hr.

Olympic_Aiairies - They love the peas!
I was actually shocked how quickly they tried them.
My guys are real buggers about new foods. Usually, I've got to put a new food in there for a week before anyone even tries it. But with the peas, they tried them straight away and love them!

In terms of popularity, peas are second only to cucumber which is the single most popular veggie in my cages. It may even rival egg food in terms of popularity! Even picky pants Sylvia enjoys them!

My guys used to enjoy carrots but I haven't had them lately -- maybe a couple months?
I got a bag yesterday and reintroduced them and they're acting like they've never seen them before. :|
Someone mentioned shredding/grating the carrots, so I'd like to try that. My only worry is that they'll dry out really quickly.

If they won't eat them, I've got an army of dogs who love them. The baby carrots make for a wonderful and healthy dog treat!

I get the bag of crispy mixed salad from local supermarket and mix it with cucumber, red bell peppers, apples, pears, etc depending on what i have in fridge, their favaourite has to be the salad, cucumber and bell peppers.

They hardly touch peas, broccoli or grated carrot

I'll have to try the cucumber and peas. It'll be interesting to see if they like it. Since I stopped giving them millet all the time they eat more greens and egg. I only give them 1/2 a sprig of millet per pair two to three times a week now.

Do you get chickweed there where you are? My birds love chickweed and also cucumber. Apparently chickweed also stimulates the birds to breed. I also saw that Monotwine gives corncobs to her birds. The parrotfinches love it.

I've found mine will peck at whatever they find at the bottom of the cage. So, that's where I put they're vegi mix. I place it in a small bowl at the btm. lol

I tried giving them all sorts of healthy vegi's, and they ignored them till I put them at the bottom. If they're at the btm, they eat it up. Funny little birds.

Mine are the same way except I have to scatter their egg or veggies along the bottom. If it's in a cup they won't touch it at all.

My birds all love leafy lettuce, ruffled kale, broccoli, and dandelions. The Java Sparrows like the broccoli stalk, and the societies like the florets. My canary also likes apple slices, but my finches ignore them.

I've been growing out my leftover soak seed in shallow clear plastic 12 oz round containers that you get for takeout soups. I tried offering cut greens to my gouldians which they pick at but I'm afraid of them going bad if I forget to take out the remainder when I go to work in the afternoon.

So far so good. I would love to offer larger containers but they won't fit through the door of my breeding cages.

I'm using Terri's sprouting mix from glamourous gouldians. They are grown in cococoir that has been nuked in the microwave for a few minutes. It takes a good week before they are big enough to offer. When I place the containers in the cage, they get torn apart. I thought I could get away with one container a week but it looks like 3x/ week would be better since the birds uproot everything. I'm seeing if I could grow them for 2 weeks and mix sand into the coco coir to make it heavier and so the birds can tear at the leaves without uprooting the seedlings.

I'll post pics once I can figure out how without a computer handy; just a smartphone and an iPad here.
To each his own.
