I only feed mine dried mealworms and crush them up. The birds eat outer part of the worms as well. I haven't had any issues yet.

Good to know. Maybe they can cause impaction, if something is already not working quite right. Sort of like grit and charcoal - its ok until the bird is not feeling well and they over do the grit/charcoal trying to feel better. They do get impacted but there was already an issue.
