I would wait at least a month after the male has finished molting.
One is to make sure that he has finished molting. As my problem is to determine WHEN they finished molting, as I am not sure what the last feathers to molt in is.
Two is so he can regain his body reserves from the molting effort.
Then if the female is not molting yet, I would go ahead and put them together.
But I am still inexperienced with gouldians, so I would wait for the more experienced gouldian breeders.

yeah I think you should wait. But let me tell you something I've learnt from my birds: you can tell when to breed them by looking at them. If the male is finished molting and look healthy and sing a lot, then why wait? when gouldian is ready, it's ready.
2 vietnamese greenfinches, 2 gouldians, 2 javas, 5 strawberries. and still try to have more
