I bought some clear containers today - can't wait to try it :) . I've read that if you add Sparkle (Morning Bird) to the soak and rinse water, there's less chance of mold/fungal growth. Wadda ya think? :?:

Oh... you're supposed to COOK the quinona first? Sigh, I bought some and gave it to them with their egg food and they never touched it. Hated it.. But I didn't cook it! Arg! Isn't it like a seed? I mean they eat seeds raw. #-o

Ken, did you know chickweed is full of good stuff for people too? I give it to our fids and I put it in our salad. You could have a chickweed garden! ;)

I need to try sprouting again. I went through the trouble for my parrots last year and they hated it. I need to make some for my finches. They seem to gorge themselves on fresh greens so I'm sure they'll love the sprouts too.

Millets will not germinate if the temperatures are not above 65 degrees at night or when the day lengths are shorter in the fall in winter months. Cool season annual crops like wheat or oats will work well or clover or alfalfa.

hi
i dont knoe wheter i have passed this info on before, but if you can get groats wherever you live you can soak these just for a short while and i have never known any bird not like them...you have to soak them as they are a little on the hard side,my societies especially used to love them...but they only need a few as they are fattening but put a sall amount in a soak seed mixture you will not fail
